What is Disaster Post for?
- Disaster Post is a comprehensive online real-time disaster communication platform.
- It is a platform for responding agencies, civilians, businesses, non-profits, and volunteers to post and communicate during and after a disaster.
- Disaster Post is faster, cheaper, scalable, and more comprehensive than all current incident communications combined. It has been tested on a real wildfire and it works.

- Want to use this site now?
If a wildfire or other large incident is happening now and you want to use Disaster Post then simply join the Incident Network and use the social networking tools to communicate with neighbors and friends about the incident. Create a new group for the incident and meet there. Ask local officials to announce the availability of Disaster Post. Email us that you want the map links available for your situation. Some are already available for you in the Basin fire section. Use the links in Steps #2 and #3.
- This is a prototype disaster communication platform.
We rapidly developed this site in response to the Basin Complex Fire near Big Sur, California and the communication chaos that resulted. Additional features will be added in the future to increase the site's functionality for fast-moving disasters.
- More development needed.
So far there is no money in this project but we will continue to develop it as we have time. While important features work now some features have to be done by hand until we develop some Web forms and additional workflow processes.
