Disaster Post gives civilians and responding agencies, organizations, and volunteers the tools to communicate better. It is a communication and information platform. Try it!

History

This concept began with the Basin Complex fire near Big Sur in June 2008. With no one place for current maps and information the residents and other interested parties turned to ad hoc solutions and networks scattered around the Web. Government agencies relied on the news media, community meetings, and their own Web sites to release information. All of these processes have major drawbacks that frustrated those affected by the fire. DiasterPost.net is designed to fix these problems

About Us

Intiri, Inc. is a Santa Clara, California development stage company owned primarily by Jim and Katya Preston and two old friends, Mike Preis and Fred Walker. The company was preparing to launch Wine Questers and Intiri Designs, two lifestyle businesses, when the Basin Fire began in the Big Sur area. Jim took the Google mapping skills he obtained from the Wine Questers project and created what quickly became popular Google Earth fire information maps that informed an estimated 10,000 people.

The Disaster Post project has the important potential to dramatically improve the information flow between those affected by a major incident and the responding agencies, organizations, and volunteers. The platform could save lives and property in future disasters by using maps to communicate critical information in real time and integrate other information with the maps. The Intiri board of directors has decided to launch Disaster Post in conjunction with the other two projects - somehow. Intiri is bootstrap financed and has no revenue yet so this will be a little challenging.
